Marcus Crawshaw
Chief Investment Officer
Marcus has been a principal with William Allan since 2013. In addition to managing his client relationships, his primary role is portfolio analyst and manager. Prior to William Allan, Marcus founded the investment advisory firm The 56 Group in 2001.
Marcus’ investment interest spans beyond the past quarter century as a professional advisor. It all began in 1991 when Jason and Marcus formed an investment club, The Westmoreland Group, which quickly evolved into a private investment group — TWG, LLC — where they served as managing partners. Working on a pro-bono basis for the next decade, they not only produced strong investment returns but also refined the investment approach that forms the foundation of William Allan’s equity strategy today.
In addition to his investment background, Marcus gained experience in corporate America through analyst roles at the space and defense firm TRW, Inc., and the strategic consulting firm Booz Allen & Hamilton.
Beyond public markets, Marcus’s entrepreneurial spirit led him to acquire The Wine Crush, LLC — a boutique wine shop and tasting room — in 2006. Much like in his equity investments, he sought stable growth. Wine tasting was on the rise, and with its enduring demand, the business offered the same resilient characteristics he values in public companies.
In his free time, Marcus enjoys life with his wife and their three young children (“the circus”), and spends time coaching youth sports, staying active, and playing golf.
