3. What methods of analysis and sources of information does William Allan use when selecting investments?
Fundamental analysis is primarily used in all investment strategies. The investment model employed by WA incorporates materials provided by brokerage firms, corporate rating services, annual reports and prospectuses, SEC filings, company press releases, and rating agency information.
4. Does William Allan earn transaction commissions on securities it recommends for purchase or sale?
No.
5. Do William Allan principals buy or sell the same securities recommended to clients?
Yes.
6. How often is my account reviewed and when are changes made to the asset allocation mix?
Client portfolios are reviewed almost daily. At a minimum, accounts are reviewed weekly. Changes to the portfolio may be made at any time based on market conditions. No material re-allocation of assets will take place without prior approval of client.
7. What is the nature and frequency of regular reports to client on their accounts?
Copies of transaction confirmations from the broker are sent to both the client and William Allan as they occur. At the end of each month, both the client and William Allan receive client account statements from the broker. William Allan also prepares a quarterly statement for each client, which provides detail information about the client’s portfolio.
8. What type of discretion does William Allan have over my account?
Written approval from clients to determine the type and amount of securities to be bought or sold in the account is obtained at the time a client opens a brokerage account under William Allan management. Trading restrictions can be made as part of the Investment Adviser Agreement. William Allan does not determine the commissions charged by broker-dealers for security transactions.
9. Will William Allan suggest a broker-dealer for its clients to use?
William Allan will not determine the broker or dealer to be used, but currently recommends that all its clients use TD Ameritrade Institutional (“TDAI”). As a result of William Allan research, it was determined that TDAA provides the best all around service for the most reasonable rates. The research and services provided to William Allan by TDAI benefit all of its clients. It is possible for clients to obtain lower commission rates from other broker-dealers.
10. Does William Allan have any arrangements where it is paid in cash by, or receives some economic benefit from, a non-client in connection with giving advice to clients?
No.
11. Does William Allan directly or indirectly compensate any person for referrals?
No.
12. How long are securities held in William Allan investment strategies?
In general, William Allan strategies are designed for long-term investors (securities held at least one year). Occasionally, William Allan will use short-term purchases (securities held less than one year), trading (securities held less than 30 days), or option writing (covered, uncovered, or spreading).
13. Does William Allan purchase securities for its clients using margin?
Only in select circumstances. Clients need to be authorized to trade on margin by their broker-dealer prior to executing margin transactions.
14. How do I cancel my adviser relationship with William Allan?
Canceling your investment adviser relationship with William Allan can be done at any time. It must be in writing, and the effective date of cancellation will be the date on which William Allan receives the written notice.
15. What types of clients does WA provide advice to?
Individuals (including trusts & estates), and high net worth individuals.
